Become a participating contractor in SMUD Home Performance Program

Before your client can receive home performance retrofit rebates from SMUD, you’ll first need to become a participating contractor.  Follow the steps below to get started:

STEP 1: FIND OUT IF YOU QUALIFY

Review the participating contractor qualifications.

STEP 2: COMPLETE A PARTICIPATION ORIENTATION.

Contractors wishing to join the HPP must attend a pre-recorded HPP Orientation Webinar to learn about program features, protocols, and requirements. Click here to view the SMUD Orientation Webinar.

STEP 3: GET TRAINED

HPP Participating Contractors must have a certified Building Performance Institute (BPI) Building Analyst on staff to ensure each HPP project in implemented in accordance with BPI Technical Standards for the Building Analyst Professional including Combustion Safety and Carbon Monoxide Protection protocols. BPI Building Analyst training providers are listed on the BPI Website.

 STEP 4: APPLY TO PARTICIPATE

Carefully review the SMUD Contractor Participation Agreement (CPA). Complete the CPA Checklist, the Contractor Signature Agreement Sheet, and the Residential Contractor Participation Agreement.
